Colleen Redmond (nee Cameron) was one of the first hundred women to graduate in Law from the University of Glasgow. Born on the 1st July 1927 in Fraserburgh, where her father Ernest Cameron was a music seller, she attended Fraserburgh Academy before matriculating at Glasgow to study Law in 1947. She had something of a rough academic passage in her encounters with a few subjects including Civil Law, Conveyancing and Constitutional Law but persevered to graduate B.L. in 1950. She returned after graduation to pass in International Private Law, an outcome that had eluded her as an undergraduate. She would also have served an apprenticeship with a law firm. She married James Redmond in 1950, a few months before graduation. The ceremony was held on 10th May at the Grand Hotel, Charing Cross. According to the records of the General Council she returned to Fraserburgh but as the occupation of married women was not routinely included, details of her career have still to be documented.
